*తాత్పర్యము : జీవుడు పరమాత్మను స్తుతించుచు ఇట్లనును* - ప్రభూ! నీ శరణాగత భక్తులను రక్షించుట కొరకై లోకకళ్యాణ నిమిత్తముగా నీవు నీ ఇచ్ఛచే అప్పుడఫ్ఫుడు పెక్కు రూపములతో అవతరించెదవు. అప్పుడు పవిత్రములైన, సర్వ అభయస్థానమగు నీ పాదపద్మములతో భూతలమునందు సంచరించెదవు. అట్టి నీ చరణసరోజములను శరణు జొచ్చుచున్నాను. అధముడనగు నాకు తగినట్టి ఈ గర్భవాసము యొక్క గతిని చూపించితివి. ఇక నీవే నాకు దిక్కు.*
*వ్యాఖ్య : కాలక్‌-కారణారవిందం అనే పదం భగవంతుని యొక్క సర్వోన్నత వ్యక్తిని సూచిస్తుంది, అతను వాస్తవానికి ప్రపంచం యొక్క ఉపరితలంపై నడిచే లేదా ప్రయాణించేవాడు. కాబట్టి ఈ ప్రార్ధన ఈ భూమి యొక్క ఉపరితలంపైకి లేదా ఈ విశ్వంలోని ఏదైనా భాగానికి దిగివచ్చిన పరమాత్మునికి, భక్తిపరుల రక్షణ కోసం మరియు దుర్మార్గుల నాశనం కోసం సమర్పించ బడుతుంది. అధర్మం పెరిగి, వైరుధ్యాలు తలెత్తినప్పుడు, భగవంతుడు భక్తులను రక్షించడానికి మరియు దుష్టులను చంపడానికి వస్తాడని భగవద్గీతలో ధృవీకరించబడింది.

*12. jantur uvāca :
*tasyopasannam avituṁ jagad icchayātta- nānā-tanor bhuvi calac-caraṇāravindam*
*so 'haṁ vrajāmi śaraṇaṁ hy akuto-bhayaṁ me yenedṛśī gatir adarśy asato'nurūpā*
*MEANING : The human soul says: I take shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who appears in His various eternal forms and walks on the surface of the world. I take shelter of Him only, because He can give me relief from all fear and from Him I have received this condition of life, which is just befitting my impious activities.*
*PURPORT : The word calac-caraṇāravindam refers to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who actually walks or travels upon the surface of the world. The prayer is therefore offered to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who descends to the surface of this earth, or any part of this universe, for the protection of the pious and the destruction of the impious. It is confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā that when there is an increase of irreligion and discrepancies arise in the real religious activities, the Supreme Lord comes to protect the pious and kill the impious.*
*Another significant point in this verse is that the Lord comes, icchayā, by His own will. As Kṛṣṇa confirms in Bhagavad-gītā, sambhavāmy ātma-māyayā: (BG 4.6) "I appear at My will, by My internal potential power." As the Supreme Lord puts the living entity into the condition of horrible existence, He can also deliver him, and therefore one should seek shelter at the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa demands, "Give up everything and surrender unto Me." And it is also said in Bhagavad-gītā that anyone who approaches Him does not come back again to accept a form in material existence, but goes back to Godhead, back home, never to return.*

*ఈ విధంగా పూజించే సందర్భంలో అగ్రపూజకు అర్హుడెవడనే ప్రశ్న పుట్టింది. సభలో ఉన్నవారు తమకు తోచిన విధంగా తలకొకరీతిగా చెప్పారు. వారి మాటలను వారించి బుద్ధిమంతుడైన సహదేవుడు భగవంతుడైన కృష్ణుడిని చూపించి 'ఈ మహాత్ముడిని సంతుష్టుడిని చేసిన సమస్త లోకాలు సంతోషిస్తాయి' అని పలికి ధర్మరాజుతో ఇలా అన్నాడు.*
*కాలమూ, దేశమూ, యజ్ఞమూ, కర్మమూ, కర్తా, భోక్తా, ప్రపంచమూ, దైవమూ, గురువూ, మంత్రమూ, అగ్నీ, హవ్యద్రవ్యాలూ, సృష్టి-స్థితి-లయలు సమస్తమూ తానేయై ప్రకాశించే ఏకైక దివ్యస్వరూపుడు ఈ కృష్ణ పరమాత్ముడొక్కడే.*
*పరమేశ్వరుడైన ఈ శ్రీకృష్ణుడు కన్నులు మూసుకొన్నాడంటే ఈ చరాచర ప్రపంచమంతా నశిస్తుంది. కన్నులు విప్పి చూస్తే ఈ లోకాలన్నీ జన్మిస్తాయి. సృష్టి, స్థితి, లయలకు కారకుడైన ఈ పుణ్యపురుషుడు యజ్ఞ ఫలాన్ని ప్రసాదించే ప్రభువు విష్ణుస్వరూపుడు. సర్వ సమర్థుడు. అగ్రపూజకు అర్హుడు ఇతడు గాకపోతే మరెవ్వరు?*
*ఓ రాజా! పురుషోత్తముడూ, లోకాధిపతీ, అనంతుడూ, సమస్త శక్తులు కలవాడూ, చిద్రూపుడూ, అయిన శ్రీకృష్ణుడిని ప్రప్రథమంగా పూజించి సంతోషింపజేసినట్లయిన సమస్త లోకాలూ సంతృప్తినొందుతాయి.*

*The members of the assembly then pondered over who among them should be worshiped first, but since there were many personalities qualified for this honor, they were unable to decide. Finally Sahadeva spoke up. He said "Certainly it is Acyuta, the Supreme God and chief of the Yādavas, who deserves the highest position. In truth, He Himself comprises all the gods worshiped in sacrifice, along with such aspects of the worship as the sacred place, the time and the paraphernalia. This entire universe is founded upon Him, as are the great sacrificial performances, with their sacred fires, oblations and mantras. Sāńkhya and yoga both aim toward Him, the One without a second. O assembly members, that unborn Lord, relying solely on Himself, creates, maintains and destroys this cosmos by His personal energies, and thus the existence of this universe depends on Him alone. He creates the many activities of this world, and thus by His grace the whole world endeavors for the ideals of religiosity, economic development, sense gratification and liberation. Therefore we should give the highest honor to Krsna, the Supreme Lord. If we do so, we will be honoring all living beings and also our own selves."*

*Often people say the Devas and the Asuras described in the Puranas are allegories of psychological functions in individuals. These are all artificial, modernised interpretations, under the impression that reality is confined to one section of life alone. We cannot say that there is no cosmic counterpart of the individual psyche. The Puranas are right; the psychologists also are right. It is true that there is a Ganga flowing in us in the form of the sushumna nadi, and there are the Yamuna and the Saraswati in the form of the ida and pingala.*
*There is no gainsaying; it is perfectly true. But there is also an outward Ganga; we cannot deny it. The world outside and the world inside are two faces of the single composite structure of reality. So the battle between the Devas and the Asuras takes place in every realm and every phase of life.
