13. అప్రకాశో(ప్రవృత్తిశ్చ ప్రమాదో మోహ ఏవ చ |
తమస్యేతాని జాయన్తే వివృద్దే కురునందన ||
🌷. తాత్పర్యం : ఓ కురునందనా! తమోగుణము వృద్ధినొందినప్పుడు అంధకారము, సోమరితనము, బుద్ధిహీనత, భ్రాంతి యనునవి వ్యక్తములగును.
🌷. భాష్యము : ప్రకాశములేనప్పుడు జ్ఞానము శూన్యమైనందున, తమోగుణము నందున్నవాడు నియమబద్ధముగా కాక తోచిన రీతిగా ప్రయోజశూన్యముగా కర్మనొనరించును. తాను కార్యసామర్థ్యమును కలిగియున్నను అతడెట్టి యత్నములను గావింపడు. ఇదియే భ్రాంతి యనబడును.
అనగా చైతన్యమున్నను అట్టివాడు క్రియారహితుడై యుండును. తమోగుణము నందున్న వానికి ఇవియన్నియు చిహ్నములు.

🌴 Chapter 14 - Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga - Nature, 3 Gunas - 13 🌴
13. aprakāśo ’pravṛttiś ca pramādo moha eva ca
tamasy etāni jāyante vivṛddhe kuru-nandana
🌷 Translation : When there is an increase in the mode of ignorance, O son of Kuru, darkness, inertia, madness and illusion are manifested.
🌹 Purport : When there is no illumination, knowledge is absent. One in the mode of ignorance does not work by a regulative principle; he wants to act whimsically, for no purpose. Even though he has the capacity to work, he makes no endeavor.
This is called illusion. Although consciousness is going on, life is inactive. These are the symptoms of one in the mode of ignorance.
