🌻. శంఖచూడుని జననము - 4 🌻
దంభుడిట్లు పలికెను - ఓ దేవదేవా! నీకు నమస్కారము. పద్మముల వంటి కన్నులు గలవాడా! లక్ష్మీపతి! త్రిలోకనాథా ! నాపై దయను చూపుము (27). నీ భక్తుడు, గొప్ప బలము పరాక్రమము గలవాడు, ముల్లోకములను జయించు వాడు, వీరుడు, దేవతల కైననూ జయింపశక్యము కానివాడు అగు పుత్రుని ఇమ్ము (28).
సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను - ఓ మునీ! ఆ రాక్షసేంద్రుడు ఇట్లు కోరగా విష్ణువు అతనికి ఆ వరమునిచ్చి కఠినమగు తపస్సును విరమింప జేసి తరువాత అంతర్ధానము జెందెను (29). విష్ణువు అంతర్ధానమైన తరువాత ఆ రాక్షసేంద్రుడు ఆ దిక్కునకు నమస్కారము చేసెను. ఆతని తపస్సు సిద్ధించెను. ఆతని కోరిక ఈడేరెను. అపుడాతడు తన గృహమునకు వెళ్లెను (30). కొద్ది కాలములో భాగ్యవంతురాలగు ఆతని భార్య గర్భవతియై తన తేజస్సుతో ఇంటిలోపల భాగములన మిక్కిలి ప్రకాశింపజేయుచూ శోభిల్లెను (31). ఓ మునీ! శ్రీకృష్ణుని అనూయాయులలో మొదటి వాడు, రాధచే శపింపబడినవాడు అగు సుదాముడనే గోపాలకుడు ఆమె గర్భములో ప్రవేశించి యుండెను (32). తరువాత ఆ పతివ్రత నెలలు నిండిన పిదప గొప్ప తేజస్సు గల పుత్రుని గనెను. తండ్రి అనేక మహర్షులను పిలిపించి ఆ బాలుని జాతకర్మను చేయించెను (33).
ఓ బ్రాహ్మణశ్రేష్ఠా! ఆ బాలుడు జన్మించగానే గొప్ప ఉత్సవము జరిగెను. వానికి తండ్రి శుభముహూర్తమునందు శంఖచూడుడు అని నామకరణము చేసెను (34). ఆ బాలుడు తండ్రి గృహములో శుక్లపక్షచంద్రుని వలె పెరిగెను. గొప్ప తేజస్సు గల ఆ బాలుడు బాల్యమునందే విద్యలనభ్యసించెను (35). ఆ బాలుడు ఆటపాటలతో నిత్యము తల్లి దండ్రుల ఆనందమును విస్తరింప జేసెను. బంధువర్గములోని వారందరికీ ఆ బాలుడు విశేషించి ప్రీతి పాత్రుడాయెను (36).
శ్రీ శివమహాపురాణములోని రుద్రసంహితయందు యుద్ధఖండలో శంఖచూడోత్పత్తి వర్ణనమనే ఇరువది ఏడవ అధ్యాయము ముగిసినది (27).

🌻 The birth of Śaṅkhacūḍa - 4 🌻
Dambha said:—
27. “O lord of gods, Obeisance be to you, O Lotuseyed one, O lord of Lakṣmī, O lord of the three worlds, please take pity on me.
28. Please give me a powerful and valorous son who will be your devotee, who will be invincible to the gods and who will conquer the three worlds.”
Sanatkumāra said:—
29. On being thus requested by the lord of Dānavas, Viṣṇu granted him the boon. O sage, making him desist from the penance he vanished from the place.
30. When Viṣṇu went away, the lord of Danavas performed obeisance to that direction and returned home, his penance having been fulfilled and his desires realised.
31. Within a short time, his fortunate wife became pregnant. Illuminating the inner apartments of her abode by her brilliance she shone much.
32. O sage, it was Sudāmā a cowherd, one of the leading comrades of Kṛṣṇa who had been cursed by Rādhā, that entered her womb.
33. At the proper time the chaste lady gave birth to a brilliant son. The father invited sages and performed the post-natal rites.
34. O excellent brahmin, when the boy was born there was great jubilation. On an auspicious day the father named him “Śaṅkhacūḍa.”
35. In the abode of his father he grew up like the moon in the bright half. Learning all lores in childhood he became resplendent.
36. With his childish sports he increased the parents’ delight. He became a special favourite of all the members of the family.
