సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను - ఆతని ఆ మాటలను విని అపుడా దేవదేవుడు, కైలాసవాసి యగు రుద్రుడు వీరభద్రుడు మొదలగు గణములతో కోపపూర్వముగా నిట్లనెను (1).
రుద్రుడిట్లు పలికెను - ఓ వీరభద్రా! నందీ! క్షేత్రపాలా! అష్టభైరవులారా! బలశాలురగు గణములందరు ఆయుధములను దాల్చి సన్నద్ధులు కండు (2). భద్రకాళి తన సేనను దోడ్కొని నా యాజ్ఞ కుమారులిద్దరితో కలిసి ఈ నాడే యుద్ధము కొరకు బయల్వెడలును గాక! నేను ఈ నాడే శీఘ్రముగా శంఖచూడుని వధించుట కొరకై బయలు దేరుచున్నాను (3).
సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను - మహేశ్వరుడు ఇట్లు ఆజ్ఞాపించి సైన్యముతో గూడి బయలుదేరెను. వీరులైన ఆయన గణములందరు మహానందముతో వెంట నడిచిరి (4). ఇంతలో సర్వసైన్యాధ్యక్షులైన కుమారస్వామి, గజాననుడు ఆయుధములను దాల్చి యుద్ధసన్నద్ధులై ఆనందముతో శివుని వద్దకు వచ్చిరి (5). వీరభద్రుడు, నంది, మహాకాలుడు, సుభద్రకుడు, విశాలాక్షుడు, బాణుడు, పింగలాక్షుడు, వికంపనుడు (6).విరూపుడు, వికృతి, మణిభద్రుడు, బాష్కలుడు, కపిలుడు, దీర్ఘదంష్ట్రుడు, వికరుడు, తామ్రలోచనుడు (7). కాలంకరుడు, బలీభద్రుడు, కాలజిహ్వుడు, కుటీచరుడు, బలోన్మత్తుడు, రణశ్లాఘ్యుడు, దుర్జయుడు, మరియు దుర్గముడు (8) మొదలగు శ్రేష్ఠసేనాపతులైన గణాధ్యక్షులు బయలు దేరిరి. వారి సైన్యములు సంఖ్యను చెప్పుచున్నాను. సావధానుడవై వినుము(9).

Sanatkumāra said:—
1. On hearing those words of the emissary, the infuriated emperor of the gods, Śiva spoke to Vīrabhadra and other Gaṇas.
Śiva said.
2-3. “O Vīrabhadra, O Nandin, O eight Bhairavas,[1] the frontier guards,[2] let the Gaṇas start along with my sons. at my bidding. Let those strong ones be ready and fully equipped with weapons. Let Bhadrakālī start with her army for the war. I start just now for slaying Śaṅkhacūḍa”.
Sanatkumāra said:
4. Having ordered thus, lord Śiva started along with his army. His delighted heroic Gaṇas followed him.
5. In the meantime Kārttikeya and Gaṇeśa, the overall generals of the army, came near Śiva joyously, fully equipped with weapons and ready for war.
6-9. The leading chiefs of the Gaṇas were Vīrabhadra, Nandin, Mahākāla, Subhadraka, Viśālākṣa, Bāṇa, Piṅgalākṣa, Vikampana, Virūpa, Vikṛti, Maṇibhadra, Bāṣkala, Kapila Dīrghadaṃṣṭra, Vikara, Tāmralocana, Kālaṅkara, Balībhadra, Kālajihva, Kuṭīcara, Balonmatta, Raṇaślāghya, Durjaya, Durgama and others. I shall enumerate the number of Gaṇas they had. Listen attentively.
