🌻. శంఖచూడుని దూత శివునితో సంభాషించుట - 3 🌻
దేవతలకు వారి రాజ్యమును అప్పజెప్పుము. ఓ దానవా! నాకు నీయందు గల ప్రేమను నిలబెట్టు కొనుము. నీ రాజ్యములో నీవు సుఖముగా నుండుము. దేవతలు తమ స్థానములో ఉండెదరు గాక! (21) ప్రాణులతో విరోధమును చాలించుము. దేవద్రోహము వలన ప్రయోజనమేమి గలదు? కశ్యపుని వంశములో పుట్టిన వాందరు శుద్ధముగ కర్మలననుష్ఠించి కులమర్యాదను నిలబెట్టెదరు (22). బ్రహ్మ హత్య మొదలగు ఏ పాపము లైనను జ్ఞాతి ద్రోహము వలన కలిగే పాపములో పదునారవ వంతు అయిననూ కాజాలవు (23).
సనత్కుమారుడిట్లు పలికెను - ఈ తీరున శంకరుడు శ్రుతిస్మృతుల తాత్పర్యముతో కూడిన శుభకరమగు అనేక వచనమును పలికి ఆతనికి ఉత్తమమగు జ్ఞానమును బోధించెను (24). కాని ఆ దూత తర్కములో దిట్ట ; పైగా శంఖచూడుడు ఆతనికి తర్ఫీడునిచ్చి పంపెను. కావున ఆతడు విధిబలముచే మోహమును పొంది వినయముతో నిట్లు పలికెను (25).
దూత ఇట్లు పలికెను - ఓ దేవా! నీవు చెప్పిన వచనములన్నియూ సత్యమే. మరియొకటి గాదు. ఆయిననూ నేను కూడ కొన్ని యథార్థ విషయములను విన్నవించెదను. వినుడు (26). ఓ ప్రభూ! జ్ఞాతులకు ద్రోహము చేయుట మహాపాపమని నీవీనాడు చెప్పిన మాట రాక్షసులకు మాత్రమే ఏల వర్తించుచున్నది? ఓ ఈశా! అది దేవతలకు అన్వయించదా యేమి? చెప్పుడు (27). అందరికీ వర్తించుననే పక్షములో, నేను ఆలోచించి కొన్ని విషయములను చెప్పెదను. వాటిపై మీ నిర్ణయమును ప్రకటించి నా సందేహమును తొలగించుడు (28). ఓ మహేశ్వరా1 ప్రళయసముద్రములో రాక్షసులలో శ్రేష్ఠులగు మధుకైటభుల తలలను చక్రధారి యగు విష్ణువు నరుకుటకు కారణమేమి? (29) నీవు త్రుపురాసులతో యుద్ధమును చేసి వారి నగరములను భస్మము చేయుటకు కారణమేమి?

🌻 The conversation between Śiva and the emissary of Śaṅkhacūḍa - 3 🌻
20. Don’t be malicious towards them. You can enjoy your kingdom zealously. Do not try to expand your kingdom nor spoil it.
21. O Dānava, return their kingdom to the gods. Maintain my affection. Stay in your kingdom happily. Let the gods stay in their region.
22. Do not offend people. Don’t be malicious to the gods. The descendants of Kaśyapa are noble and indulge in pure activities.
23. Whatever sin is there in the world, even including that of slaughter of a brahmin, does not merit even a sixteenth part of the sin accruing from the offence towards kinsmen.
24. These and many such words of advice, auspiciously based on injunctions of Śruti and Smṛti, Śiva said to him enlightening him in an excellent manner.
25. The emissary who had been well instructed by Śaṅkhacūḍa who knew his duties well but who had been deluded by destiny spoke these words humbly.
The messenger said:—
26. O lord, what has been narrated by you is true. It cannot be otherwise. But let my submission based on certain factual elements be heard.
27. O lord Śiva, verily a great sin has been cited as the result of offence to kinsmen by you now. But does it concern only Asuras and not the gods? Please tell me.
28. If it applies to all alike, I shall consider it and let you know. Please tell me your decision at the outset and clear my doubts.
29. O lord Śiva, why did the discus-bearing lord Viṣṇu sever the heads of Madhu and Kaiṭabha[1] the excellent Daityas in the ocean of dissolution?
